Happy Juneteenth from Black Girl Vitamins
Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the generations of people who fought to create a better future.
At Black Girl Vitamins, we believe honoring that history means recognizing not only where we have been, but where we are going.
This Juneteenth, we are celebrating the strength, brilliance, and contributions of Black women through three powerful reminders of our collective impact:
- The stories we preserve
- The communities we support
- The future we invest in
Walking Into Summer: 19 Million Steps Toward Wellness
Inspired by the legacy of Dr. Opal Lee, known as the “Grandmother of Juneteenth,” Black Girl Vitamins is celebrating freedom through movement with Walking Into Summer.
This campaign brings together Black-owned walk clubs and communities across 10 cities for one shared goal:
19 million collective steps.
The movement represents more than exercise, it represents:
- Community
- Connection
- Collective care
- Freedom in motion
Every step honors the journey of those who came before us while prioritizing the health and well-being of those walking today.
Investing in the Future of Black Healthcare Leaders

The future of healthcare depends on creating opportunities for the next generation.
As part of Black Girl Vitamins’ commitment to closing the health equity gap, BGV continues to support women pursuing careers in healthcare through its scholarship initiative.
Our scholarship recipients represent the next wave of:
- Doctors
- Researchers
- Healthcare advocates
- Wellness leaders
By investing in Black women’s education, we are investing in healthier communities for generations to come.
Honoring the Hidden Foremothers of Healthcare

Throughout history, Black women have transformed medicine, science, and public health while often receiving little recognition for their contributions.
This Juneteenth, Black Girl Vitamins is celebrating these trailblazers with Hidden Foremothers, a limited-edition coffee-table book honoring 19 Black women who helped shape modern medicine.
The book highlights the achievements of Black women who overcame:
- Exclusion from medical spaces
- Discrimination
- Lack of recognition
- Barriers to education and opportunity
Their work helped advance healthcare, and their legacy continues to influence the wellness conversations we have today.
Hidden Foremothers is more than a book. It is a tribute to the women who paved the way.
