Black Girl Vitamins Ignites a Wellness Movement at HBCUs Across the Country
Every fall, HBCUs across the country light up with pride, tradition, and celebration during homecoming season. This year, Black Girl Vitamins (BGV) is bringing something new to the yard, wellness.
Through its Homecoming of Health Tour, BGV is showing up on 20 HBCU campuses nationwide from October 4 to November 7, 2025, creating unforgettable health-centered experiences for students, alumni, and the entire HBCU community.
What started last year as a four-campus experiment has now blossomed into a full movement. With double the energy and five times the reach, BGV is redefining what homecoming season can look like when health, nutrition, and community empowerment are placed at the center.
Why Homecoming Matters for Wellness
Homecoming has always been about more than tailgates and step shows. It is a time where generations come together, honoring legacy, Black excellence, and communal strength.
“Homecomings are more than school pride. They’re celebrations of Black excellence and communal strength,” explains Jennifer Juma, Chief Strategy Officer of Black Girl Vitamins. “Our goal is to honor those roots by prioritizing health education, nutrition, and wellness for Black women everywhere.”
By connecting the joy of homecoming to the importance of health, BGV is reminding students and alumni alike that taking care of our bodies is part of protecting our legacy.
