Black Art Is Wellness Gallery Event Recap
On February 21st, Black Girl Vitamins brought the Black Art Is Wellness campaign to life with an unforgettable gallery event in Chicago. What began as a celebration of art and wellness quickly transformed into an evening of connection, creativity, and community.
The Black Art Is Wellness campaign invited 18 talented artists to redesign Black Girl Vitamins products in honor of 100 years of Black History Month. Each artist interpreted wellness through their own cultural lens, turning everyday supplements into meaningful works of art that celebrate Black womanhood, healing, and self-expression. The gallery event served as a living showcase of these designs and their stories.
Nearly 100 women entered the gallery space dressed in elegant attire that perfectly complemented the art. The venue featured black draping and red roses, creating an atmosphere that felt like a fusion of sophistication and soft Valentine’s warmth. It was a visual reflection of the campaign’s message that wellness can be both personal and artistic.
Guests were welcomed by the BGV team and the sounds of music filling the room. Chicago’s own DJ Nosike kept the energy high, playing music that had everyone moving. Every element of the event was designed to reflect the Black Art Is Wellness theme. Guests enjoyed small bites, including sliders served in branded boxes featuring the Black Girl Vitamins logo. Champagne glasses, cups, and napkins were customized with our afro-centric logo and brand details, turning everything into moments of representation.
One of the evening’s standout features was the photo installation, artistic backdrops featuring BGV bottles reimagined through a creative lens. This became the must-visit photo moment of the night, with guests lining up to capture content that blended wellness, technology, and art.
A special highlight of the evening was honoring three of our featured artists in person. J’Aaron Merchant, who designed the Meno-Chill bottle, Mezay Ugbo, who designed Probiotics, and Iris Williams, who designed the Black Art Is Wellness tote bag, were flown out to Chicago to be celebrated for their contributions. Seeing their work displayed and embraced by the community was a powerful full-circle moment. Guests had the opportunity to meet them, hear about their inspiration, and celebrate the creativity that brought the campaign to life.

By bringing together art, health, and Black womanhood in one space, Black Girl Vitamins created an experience that honored creativity while reinforcing that wellness is how we express, connect, and show up for ourselves and each other.
If the gallery showed us anything, it is this: when Black women are given space to create, celebrate, and prioritize their well-being, the result is nothing short of transformative.
