Celebrating Black History Month With Sisterhood in Self-Care
Black History Month is a time of remembrance, gratitude, and deep reflection. We honor the ancestors who paved the way for us, activists who fought for our rights, and the trailblazers making strides today. They deserve eternal celebration, and we must highlight their contributions and sacrifices all month long.
As we reflect on their sacrifices, we’re reminded that resilience isn’t just about endurance, it’s also about knowing when to rest and pour into ourselves. This year, we’re focusing on reversing the stigma within the Black community regarding self-care. It’s time to proudly prioritize our well-being and take care of ourselves before taking on the needs of everyone else.
That’s why Black History Month at BGV is all about Sisterhood in Self-Care, a theme that encourages Black women to foster community and adopt consistent self-care practices, giving themselves a well-deserved break.
Theme Explained
For far too long, the “superwoman” archetype has pressured Black women to hold the weight of the world on their shoulders while placing their own needs last. BGV invites women to “shed the cape” and focus on their wellness by building communities of love, emotional support, and accountability for self-care practices like taking their vitamins and staying active.
How to Celebrate With Us
To bring Sisterhood in Self-Care to life, we have curated a series of events and commemorative offerings designed to inspire consistent wellness habits.
You cannot miss out on the things in store for our community this month:
