Black Girl Vitamins and Jayla Health Join Forces to Revolutionize Menopause Care for Black Women

A New Chapter in Menopause Care

In October, 2025, Black Girl Vitamins (BGV) launched a partnership with Jayla Health, a Black women–founded telehealth startup. Together, they’re offering free virtual menopause consultations to hundreds of women across the country, combining evidence-based supplements with culturally competent healthcare access.

Menopause is not just a hormonal shift. For many Black women, it’s a deeply personal health journey that’s too often met with silence, stigma, or dismissal. This partnership aims to change that.

“At Jayla, we understand that too often Black women’s symptoms are dismissed as stress or aging. This is due to an inequitable system that delays care and raises health risks. By calling this out and creating solutions that center Black women, we can deliver the highest standard of care.”
Antonia Walters, Co-Founder of Jayla Health

Why This Campaign Matters

Menopause is a universal experience, but it’s not experienced equally. Research shows that Black women often go through menopause earlier, with more intense symptoms, and for longer durations than other groups. At the same time, they’re less likely to receive accurate diagnoses, effective treatment, or compassionate support.

“BGV's mission is to improve health outcomes for Black women, and too often, Black women are navigating menopause earlier, more intensely, and longer with fewer resources. We are hopeful that this initiative will give more access to quality care that can lower the health disparities within our community.”— Jennifer Juma, Chief Strategy Officer, Black Girl Vitamins

The collaboration between BGV and Jayla Health is  a shift toward equitable, holistic menopause care.

The Facts: Menopause and Black Women’s Health

Black women tend to experience menopause differently — and more intensely — than many of their peers. On average, Black women reach menopause about 8.5 months earlier than other groups. This earlier onset often comes with heavier symptom burdens, including more frequent hot flashes, mood changes, and disrupted sleep patterns. These symptoms can begin earlier in midlife, making this transition especially challenging for many.

Not only do symptoms often start earlier, but they also last longer. Research has shown that vasomotor symptoms like hot flashes can persist for roughly 10 years in Black women. In comparison, non-Hispanic white women typically experience these symptoms for about 6.5 years. This prolonged discomfort can affect daily quality of life, sleep, mood, and long-term well-being.

Black women also face a higher risk of hot flashes and depression during menopause. Studies indicate they are about 50% more likely to report hot flashes and experience greater sleep disturbances and mood disorders during this life stage. These effects don’t occur in isolation — they often compound and can lead to more serious health consequences if left unaddressed.

Behind these disparities are systemic and social factors. Structural racism, chronic stress, and socioeconomic barriers shape health outcomes throughout life, and menopause is no exception. Black women are more likely to face obstacles in accessing culturally competent care and often encounter providers who minimize or misinterpret their symptoms. This can lead to delays in diagnosis and treatment.

Finally, treatment gaps persist. Despite experiencing more severe symptoms, Black women are statistically less likely to receive hormonal treatment or other forms of medical support that could ease their transition. This gap highlights the urgent need for initiatives — like the BGV x Jayla Health partnership — that bring accessible, inclusive, and evidence-based menopause care to the forefront.

Beyond Supplements: A Holistic Approach

This campaign represents a first-of-its-kind effort to provide real solutions through both supplements and accessible, culturally competent care.

  • Women who sign up will receive a free telehealth consultation with licensed clinicians trained to address menopause symptoms in Black women with empathy and evidence-based care.

  • They’ll also have the opportunity to learn about Meno-Chill, BGV’s supplement blend formulated to support major menopause symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep disruption.

The goal: not just to ease symptoms — but to empower Black women with knowledge, access, and support.

How Jayla Health Is Changing Menopause Care

Jayla Health is redefining what menopause care can look like. Their innovative platform uses at-home hormone testing kits and virtual consultations to help women identify symptoms of perimenopause and menopause early on. From there, they connect patients to clinicians who can provide personalized treatment plans — including lifestyle changes, supplement recommendations, and prescription support if needed.

This accessible model is particularly meaningful for Black women, who face barriers to traditional in-office care. It allows them to be seen, heard, and cared for in a way that respects both their experiences and their health needs.

How Meno-Chill Supports the Menopause Journey

While healthcare access is crucial, nutritional support plays a big role in managing menopause symptoms. BGV created Meno-Chill as a science-backed supplement designed specifically for the needs of Black women.

Meno-Chill targets:

  • Hot flashes and night sweats

  • Mood swings and irritability

  • Sleep disruptions

  • Hormonal balance

By combining evidence-based nutrients with increased access to quality healthcare, BGV is offering a holistic solution that centers Black women at every step of the journey.
